That’s right folks, Strata Plan party doesn’t stop. Following our initial announcement of $3.1M worth of savings for our customers and our follow up of the $1.6M for 12-18 Miller St in Brunswick East, we are super thrilled to announce the second half of our $3.1 million dollar win.
It’s our quest to ensure that all eligible Strata Plan buildings (contact us if you want to know more!) can participate in Cladding Safety Victoria;s $600M package to buildings with combustible cladding.
The previous cladding material for this building is Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) and Expanded Polystyrene (ECP). The Minister for Planning announced a prohibition on the use of the external wall cladding products ACP and EPS for any building work in connection with buildings of Type A and Type B construction, effective 1 February 2021. The VBA has published an Advisory Note about the Prohibition of high-risk cladding products.
Expanded polystyrene (ECP) has been used widely in the building industry in Victoria over the past 20 years because of its low cost, light weight, and insulating properties. However, it is highly combustible, increasing the likelihood of fire spread, with the potential to shrink, ignite or melt when exposed to higher temperature. Same with aluminium composite panels (ACP) which has a polymer core and are combustible. They have the potential to spread fire up and around the building façade.
But thanks to Strata Plan’s efforts, the 42 lot owners at 20 Miller St has saved almost $36,000.00 each, totalling to $1,503,770.35 for the whole building.
We have many more buildings to go and will work tirelessly until each building has been property audited and declared safe.
Stay tuned for more updates! If you’re curious as to how we can do the same for your building, contact our team!
